Week 19 - Oh look, even more lasts

May 5th -

Well, the rain had plans for us this week. Key Club was supposed to do sidewalk chalk for Teacher Appreciation Week, but due to the rain (at least it wasn’t during prom) the students made posters instead. While students made posters, I took down photo booth decorations and listened to them talk about prom. It seems like everyone had a good time. After hours of that I returned home to veg out. So, no home improvement projects today.

May 6th -

The first full day of Teacher Appreciation Week. There’s a lot to organize this week, so I don’t foresee much happening at home. Between planning for the week and doing a final check (or two) on the senior video, I’m pretty tired just thinking about it; and it's only Monday.

May 7th -

Today members of Key Club had a catered meal provided for the teachers. The students cleared plates, filled glasses with drinks, and did the bulk of setup and clean up. Talk about a gift! The meal was a huge success and the students were very excited about it.

May 8th -

My oldest received recognition today for doing well on an industry test that may help him with job placement in the future. The ceremony was over an hour long and he was near the end. I ended up walking out after a while, going back to my desk to stream it while working some, then headed back around the time he was to get his award.

As I have a sub tomorrow, I had to prep so she had something to do while I was gone.

No home improvement work today as I’m absolutely exhausted from this week and last.

May 9th -

The little one had his last field trip with the lower elementary today. We went to the capital city of our state and explored a nature center that neither of us had visited before. With the exception of a group of children that were determined to run everywhere (so we told them to skip instead), it was a wonderful time. We got to see a lot of nature and gave the kids time to explore. After the bus packed up and left, we stayed for about an hour longer with his best friend and mom. We walked a trail that we didn’t take the previous time and found some really interesting rock features. We also ran into the park ranger that gave the presentation to the class and the two boys got to learn even more about things around the park.

No home improvement today, but I did get out my weedeater and start whacking away at the overgrown grass in my front yard.

May 10th -

Tonight was the senior banquet for my oldest son. He and his fellow classmates enjoyed a meal together and entertainment in the form of a hypnotist. Having been a senior class sponsor previously, I know it’s far more enjoyable to watch the entertainment than participate, so I hope all of those who participate and watch have a wonderful time.

While he’s out, the youngest and I took a little trip to watch the Aurora Borealis from a lookout point in town. We arrived just in the nick of time, before a huge group of other people showed up. We stayed for about 15-20 minutes then left so others could enjoy it. We then headed to the bridge over the river to see if the lights looked any different. They did, but it wasn’t as exciting as the higher up perspective.

No home improvement today, unless you count the neighbor cutting my grass since it’s beyond overgrown due to the rain we’ve had. But even then it wasn’t me.

May 11th -

Today is the graduation party for my oldest and a couple of his friends. It’s supposed to be a pretty laid back time. We have cupcakes, drinks, and three soon-to-be high school graduates. I hope a lot of their friends show up to spend time with them.
