Week 12

March 17 -   I found the key to success. Read all day and I won’t spend money. I’ll snack on things around the house and drink a decent amount of water.  I didn’t spend money and I read about 20% of the book I’ve been working on. Not too shabby. March 18 -   I did purchase lunch today, though I was thoughtful about it. I simply purchased a sandwich. While I would have loved the fries that come with a combo meal, it also comes with a drink. I haven’t had a soda in almost 3 weeks at this point and I plan on keeping it that way. So I skipped over getting the meal and just went for the sandwich. I also didn’t purchase cookies at work (which happens a lot more than I think I’ve admitted). I grabbed an orange and an apple at breakfast service. I ate the apple as a mid morning snack and then I had a small handful of honey roasted peanuts about an hour before lunch. Those things helped me not go overboard at lunch, which helped my pocketbook and my waistline. I did pay ...

Week 10 and 11 (because I forgot to post last week)

March 5 -   I had to take a half day off work, again. The little guy is still not 100% and had to leave. He was supposed to have his first soccer practice, but I told him he wasn’t going. When I texted the team, he was one of like 3 kids that are currently ill and wouldn’t be at practice. I don’t feel so bad that he didn’t go now! In addition to that, the older one is down for the count now.  We did make a trip to the doctor to see if we could get answers for his constant illness. The nurse practitioner that he saw deemed him to have a sinus infection so he’s on antibiotics now. Thank goodness his health insurance covered the visit and medication.  As for my spending today: sandwich from Arbys, dinner for the little one and me from McDonalds (on the way to the appointment), bath bombs, juice, jelly and peanut butter from Walmart. I don’t feel great about the fast food, but I was unable to prepare dinner for the little one as I had a prior engagement before we ...

Week 9 (End of February and beginning of March)

February 25 -   We went back to my hometown to celebrate the birthday of a good friend’s little boy. We had a good visit and I’m glad I felt better. However, when we got home, I was a little wiped out, especially since we stopped at the store before heading home. I did manage to get a new book on my Kindle and read. It’s called A Discovery of Witches. It’s a big boy book so I’m sure it’ll take me a little bit to get through it. February 26 -   I got up and went to work today, even though I really wanted to stay home in bed. I’m not 100% and it’s hard to get back into the swing of daily life.  I ordered a new night stand last week and it showed up today so I built it in the hopes I could rehome my old night stand. Upon building it, I discovered that it won’t hold as much of my stuff as I had hoped so I guess for the time being I have two. Guess I’ll need to reevaluate what I keep in my night stand now. LOL!  The little one and I spent some time tonigh...
