Week 12

March 17 -

I found the key to success. Read all day and I won’t spend money. I’ll snack on things around the house and drink a decent amount of water.

I didn’t spend money and I read about 20% of the book I’ve been working on. Not too shabby.

March 18 -

I did purchase lunch today, though I was thoughtful about it. I simply purchased a sandwich. While I would have loved the fries that come with a combo meal, it also comes with a drink. I haven’t had a soda in almost 3 weeks at this point and I plan on keeping it that way. So I skipped over getting the meal and just went for the sandwich. I also didn’t purchase cookies at work (which happens a lot more than I think I’ve admitted). I grabbed an orange and an apple at breakfast service. I ate the apple as a mid morning snack and then I had a small handful of honey roasted peanuts about an hour before lunch. Those things helped me not go overboard at lunch, which helped my pocketbook and my waistline. I did pay for the rental car in Seattle today (which went on my credit card for insurance purposes) and booked a one night stay at a hotel in KC the night before our flight to Seattle. I’m really going to have to buckle down and finish planning our days out so I can purchase tickets to the MoPOP and Space Needle.

One thing I’ve really noticed this week with my spending is that it is really hard to talk myself out of things, but if I think of the bottom line in terms of a trip or a bigger purchase, it gets a lot easier. I hope this ability to talk myself out of things continues for the month and even longer.

 Off to read now!

March 19 -

I took my lunch today, which meant I didn’t have to buy lunch. I also cooked dinner, which isn’t the worst thing, but sometimes I am tired of cooking. I just want a live-in cook. Let’s be real. LOL!

I read more in my book.

March 20 -

I went to the store today to purchase the items on our shopping list. I left with one additional thing, some bananas, but other than that I stayed on task with purchasing exactly what was needed. I’m pretty proud of that accomplishment!

I read more in the book. I’ve got a few days before it’s due and I’m honestly just trying to get it over with.

March 21 -

I cooked dinner again tonight. I didn’t really want to, but I knew that if I made a choice to eat food away from home, it would reflect on the amount of money I have available while we’re in Seattle. My sister was over also, so it really did work out for the best.

I read more in the book. I cannot wait for it to end. Yeesh. I also received an audiobook from the library that I thought I would have to wait 2 weeks for! It’s one of the Gateway titles for next school year. I decided to start with the ones I’m not very excited about so I can hopefully finish with the ones I am excited about and actually finish all 15 of them.

March 22 -

My oldest had a concert tonight, but I managed to feed the little one and myself before going, which saved me from spending money before the show. It’s interesting how I’ve managed to tell myself that I can’t eat out as much and it’s motivated me to find food at home to eat. And weirdly enough, there always seems to be some food at home. It’s like I go shopping or something. LOL!
I plan on reading before bed in the hopes I get that much closer to finishing this book so I can move on to one I hope to enjoy more.

March 23 -

I went grocery shopping today. It went a lot better than I thought it would, but then again, we’re only eating at home for 4ish days.

I revisited the decluttering aspect of my journey and cleared out some digital files on my Google Photos. I’m a little cross-eyed at this point, but it feels good to have cleared out and labeled a pretty good chunk of photos.

 I’m gonna go read now.
