Week 9 (End of February and beginning of March)
February 25 -
We went back to my hometown to celebrate the birthday of a good friend’s little boy. We had a good visit and I’m glad I felt better. However, when we got home, I was a little wiped out, especially since we stopped at the store before heading home. I did manage to get a new book on my Kindle and read. It’s called A Discovery of Witches. It’s a big boy book so I’m sure it’ll take me a little bit to get through it.

I got up and went to work today, even though I really wanted to stay home in bed. I’m not 100% and it’s hard to get back into the swing of daily life. I ordered a new night stand last week and it showed up today so I built it in the hopes I could rehome my old night stand. Upon building it, I discovered that it won’t hold as much of my stuff as I had hoped so I guess for the time being I have two. Guess I’ll need to reevaluate what I keep in my night stand now. LOL!
The little one and I spent some time tonight exploring a geology kit that we ordered using the “Close the Gap” grant that allots us COVID funding to purchase educational items to help Missouri students. The little one has a love of science so I’m trying to foster that love by using the funds to get things related to science that are enjoyable for him.
I hope to read some tonight, but I’ve been coughing a lot, which has caused a slight headache. I am also disgusted with the amount of dishes in the sink, the laundry I haven’t put up for a few weeks, and the mess I made in the living room from putting together the night stand. I should be able to tackle at least one of those things (two if I’m lucky) so I can feel a little more comfortable. I do believe we need to make a trip to a local town to get the oldest some new shoes tomorrow, but I believe I should be able to go through some stuff tomorrow when we get back. I’m also contemplating taking a day off work to really focus on it while the boys are gone.

It has been a BEAUTIFUL day. The boys and I traveled to the nearby town to purchase shoes for the oldest and some cleats for the youngest. There was some time to play at the park for both of them, though not much. Before going to the park, we stopped at Barnes & Noble so I could get a book I want to read, but they didn’t have it. So I bought a few others. Woopies. After we got home I did the dishes and took care of some of that laundry that was bothering me. I feel better, but not 100% still. I’m taking it easy and doing my best to let my body heal itself.
I will read some before I go to bed tonight
February 28 -
My time off was approved for tomorrow. Thank goodness! I can catch up on some stuff that fell to the wayside from being ill. I should be able to get the boxes of donation items to the local charity. I was able to get so much done while at work today, knowing that I won’t be there tomorrow and I love leaving a clean desk for a substitute.
I hope to read some tonight as this book is a big one and I have a lot of pages to get through before the book goes back to the library!
February 29 -
Talk about a productive day! I took the day off work to let my body finish kicking this illness in the booty and work on the house since I didn't feel well this weekend. I completed my ENTIRE checklist for the day! Plus I did some work on my space in the basement. I modified my plan with the plywood, but I think it's for the best. I also moved my black wire shelving unit and I think the space will be much more suitable for my idea of a place to get a variety of tasks completed.
March 1 -
I had to leave work early today as the little one had a fever that required him to leave school for the day. On the way home, I had a fight with myself about spending money on stopping by an eating establishment to grab some food for myself. Either way you look at it, I won and lost. I did not stop, but I snacked on a lot of stuff at home. So, I guess it was more of a win since I already spent money on the food at home. LOL!
This month I plan on really monitoring where the money goes (which will be so fun on a trip to Seattle at the end of the month). I will also be working to avoid frivolous spending on things like fast food and items that I don’t REALLY need at home. Between monitoring my spending and continual decluttering, I look forward to having an even more comfortable home and tucking funds away to do things that need to be taken care of.
March 2 -
The boys are both out of the house today, which gives me a lot of free time to read, which is precisely what I plan on doing all day. I will be going out of town to spend time with friends this evening, so I need to plan accordingly in terms of feeding myself so I’m not spending money on food, when I have food at home. Perhaps I’ll spend some of my free time on meal planning….
