Week 13 (plus one day)
March 24-31
I honestly did a terrible job of keeping track of anything for the end of March. I took my oldest son on a trip to celebrate his upcoming graduation and I failed to type my daily notes because of the packing and prep work for the trip. Then while we were on the trip, I also failed to type up my notes. I can say that while I spent more on parking than I would have initially liked, I did spend less overall than I thought I would. I didn’t get many souvenirs for people while there, so that helped cut down the bottom line. We also prepaid on some of the attractions we went to, which helped lower the price. The vehicle we got was pretty fuel efficient so paying for gas wasn’t as painful as I expected, plus we found gas stations that had lower prices on the way to different things.
For the month of March, it was hard to really watch my finances. I’m so used to the way I spend money and budget. Being paid only once a month and being the only income in the home has necessitated that I do better at managing my money than I used to. I do need to knock down my credit card debt and chip away at my car and home loans, but I feel pretty confident in my ability to manage money. I even started a savings account a few months ago that allows me to put the rounded up amount on each purchase into the savings account. It’s not much, but it’s really adding up and it’s nice to know that I have a little bit of money tucked away if I need it, but that I can also leave it alone and let it grow.
