Week 26 - Finally figuring it out *hopefully*

Image
June 22 -  14,147 steps  Well, I did it! I finished a 5k this year. I completed it in a little under an hour and that was with some light jogging. Toward the end, I was really kicking myself for not preparing more. I will do better for the next one that I participate in, though I don’t know when that will be.  I am thankful for my friend and former co-worker who doubled back at the end of the race to make sure I was okay and to finish it with me. That meant a lot to me!   I spent most of the remainder of the day walking around the festival that was hosted in my town with my youngest son and two of his friends. They all had a good time and I’m sure they’ll be making plans for next year. LOL! June 23 -  1,449 steps Sunday is a rest day. Full stop.  I am SO sore from yesterday. I don’t want to move. Also, I think I may have suffered from a little bit of heat exhaustion on Saturday so I’m really trying to baby my self to make sure I’m okay. June 24 ...

Week 25 - Almost half way through the year

The formatting of this post has been giving me a headache. I apologize if it's weird, but I'm tired of fighting with it. June 15 - 12,823 steps  I was awoken by the sound of a cat knocking a metal drink container onto the floor around 6 am. I swear, they know when they’re supposed to be fed. Sadly, they wake up the wrong person. After waking up, I did read some of the book for my book club meeting next week. I’m only 20% done at this point, but it is a welcome break from the other book I’ve been reading.  I decided that it was time to get up and eat a little bit then hit the trail for my morning walk. I had a couple pieces of wheat toast with crunchy peanut butter on them to make sure I didn’t get light headed while out walking this morning. It worked like a charm, as I felt great while walking. June 16 -  2,762 steps The little one was gone with his dad today so I just sat around for most of the day and relaxed. I miss him terribly when he’s gone, but having a brea...

Week 24 - Information overload (with photos)

June 7th -  11,194 steps  Worked all day, but I moved around a lot. I moved tables and chairs around, cleaned off a LOT of surfaces around the Media Center and put up a lot of things that were out of place.  After work, I managed to chat with my bestie on the phone for a while and walked while the little one played at a nearby park. It felt good to get so much walking in and I think it helped me sleep better. The rain probably helped, too. LOL! June 8th -  10,048 steps  Today I have a lunch date with one of my oldest friends. We’ve been friends since 6th grade and we’ve FINALLY squared away some time in our respective lives to hang out for a meal. It was so nice to catch up, eat some yummy food, and begin planning our next lunch date.  After lunch, I went to an independent bookshop and spend the last of my book budget money for the 23-24 school year. I’ve got a lot of books to cover now! After that I went to the mall with my sister and then we went home. I ...

Week 23 - Enter the June (fitness) bug

Saturday, June 1 -  3,415 steps  Today, I started off my month of fitness with the best possible thing happening. The band on my watch broke. *face palm* I ordered a new one, but it won’t be here until next week. However, I think I can rig it to work, but I’ll have to see about that tomorrow.  To deal with my frustration, I decided to clean my room. It feels SO much better in my space now. Tomorrow I will move on to another room of the house to make it feel better too.  I am also going to try and eat better, which I started some in May. So, I’ll take some photos and measurements tomorrow and add them to the blog and track throughout the month to see if I can actually lose a little weight or redistribute the weight I have. Sunday, June 2 -  3,989 steps  We traveled to my hometown for a birthday party of a family friend today. She turned 2. It was wonderful to see her, her brother, and her mama. We had a very nice visit and I helped out with serving cake, pou...

Week 22 - Reflection for May

Image
May 26 -   We returned home today from our little weekend adventure. We had a good time and didn’t over book ourselves. After we returned home, I went to bed for a few hours. For some reason I was extremely exhausted. After being in my room for a while, I hung out with the boys in the living room and even went on a walk with the little one. The oldest was on tap to cook dinner tonight (though he didn’t know it until I got home from the walk). We watched a movie and just hung out.  I have a list of things (from Tuesday) that weren’t completed this week and I’m hoping to get them done this week. May 27 - Memorial Day  I forgot to turn off my alarm for today, so I’ve been up for a bit. Thankfully, I was able to just stay in my room for a while. Once I got up, I prepared my tea and some peanut butter toast. While the tea was brewing, I swept the kitchen, which is one of the items on my list from last week. May 28 -  Summer school started today. I was assigned around...

Week 21 - Still running behind

May 19 -  Today has been a very busy day! We got home from the concert between 1:30 and 2 am, then went right to bed! I woke up around 8 to shower and received a message from my brother that he would like to meet up for breakfast so I woke the boys up and we met him at a great local breakfast spot. After breakfast we all headed back to our house so I could finish getting ready, and the boys could hang out with their uncle.  After changing I left to pick up my sister so we could save the 14 seats we needed for graduation! We were the first people there to save seats and I managed to get all the seats we wanted. The doors opened at noon and our friends and family began to trickle in, including family that traveled all the way from Virginia! Graduation was wonderful and I only used two tissues! After we visited with friends for a while, the family met up at a restaurant in a nearby town for a graduation dinner in honor of the big guy. After the graduation dinner, we all went our ...
