Week 21 - Still running behind

Today has been a very busy day! We got home from the concert between 1:30 and 2 am, then went right to bed! I woke up around 8 to shower and received a message from my brother that he would like to meet up for breakfast so I woke the boys up and we met him at a great local breakfast spot. After breakfast we all headed back to our house so I could finish getting ready, and the boys could hang out with their uncle. After changing I left to pick up my sister so we could save the 14 seats we needed for graduation! We were the first people there to save seats and I managed to get all the seats we wanted. The doors opened at noon and our friends and family began to trickle in, including family that traveled all the way from Virginia! Graduation was wonderful and I only used two tissues! After we visited with friends for a while, the family met up at a restaurant in a nearby town for a graduation dinner in honor of the big guy. After the graduation dinner, we all went our separate ways after lots of hugs. It was so wonderful to have so many friends and family show up to support the oldest kid.

The last teacher work day of the year was more productive than they have been in past years. Our big staff breakfast was only about an hour long, which is SO much better than in past years. I appreciate that we are able to go back to our respective buildings and get to work as quickly as possible. Once back at work, we had a brief meeting to say farewell to the staff that is leaving, and to touch on things that need to be finished by the end of the day. I had the best return rate for teacher chargers this year! I have a lot of them to verify, which is a good problem to have.
After finishing up stuff at work, a coworker and I went to the annual fish fry. We plopped down at the introvert table and had a WONDERFUL time doing what introverts do best. LOL! We made it around 2.5 hours.

I headed back into work today, but since I’m not on a set schedule, I meandered in around 11 am. The little one came with me and he did a good job of entertaining himself while I worked on stuff. I began preparations for summer school and worked on finding and fixing the problems with my book inventory.
No work on the house. This month is turning out to be a bust on the home improvement front. I guess I’m figuring out what I’m not that great at.

I had to head back into work today to continue fixing the inventory as I think I found the issue, so to speak. I also must continue preparations for summer school. The little one went with me again and was so very good.
No work on the house, but I figured out what was going on with the lawn mower (I think) and I ordered a part for it. Now I must wait for it to come in so I can repair the mower and start cutting the grass.

This inventory is going to be the bane of my existence. I’ve managed to get most of the carts delivered to classrooms and now I need to set up the cart for the math credit recovery classroom and I need to figure out where the computers will be going in the Media Center for my credit recovery students.

I spent WAY too much time at work today. I was planning on being there for a few hours and it ended up being 7 hours. Nothing like working a full day when you don’t expect it AND you have to walk away with unfinished work. Guess I’ll be going in on Monday.

We took a little weekend vacation that started today. Each Memorial Day weekend, there is a big event in our town that takes place (pretty much) across the street from our home. It’s loud and I don’t particularly care for the music that is performed so I try to find a way to be gone every year. This year was no exception. The boys and I decided to travel to Hannibal and experience the Mark Twain Cave together along with the Twain on Main festival that takes place in downtown Hannibal. When we were done there we traveled to Quincy for our hotel stay. We had a great time and the oldest even tried Thai food while we were in Quincy. He is a fan of it, which makes me happy in terms of expanding his taste buds.
