Week 24 - Information overload (with photos)

June 7th -

11,194 steps

Worked all day, but I moved around a lot. I moved tables and chairs around, cleaned off a LOT of surfaces around the Media Center and put up a lot of things that were out of place.  After work, I managed to chat with my bestie on the phone for a while and walked while the little one played at a nearby park. It felt good to get so much walking in and I think it helped me sleep better. The rain probably helped, too. LOL!

June 8th -

10,048 steps

Today I have a lunch date with one of my oldest friends. We’ve been friends since 6th grade and we’ve FINALLY squared away some time in our respective lives to hang out for a meal. It was so nice to catch up, eat some yummy food, and begin planning our next lunch date.

After lunch, I went to an independent bookshop and spend the last of my book budget money for the 23-24 school year. I’ve got a lot of books to cover now! After that I went to the mall with my sister and then we went home. I decided that I was pretty close on my steps after getting home so I went for a walk to make sure I hit my goal today! It only took about 15 minutes. Yippee!

June 9th -

12,884 steps

I went for a LONG walk today. The little one was with his dad, so I took the opportunity to get a really good walk in. I was out for over an hour. It was glorious and I was so relieved when I got home. I was smart and took some water with me so I wouldn’t be dehydrated, but it was very warm when I got home. LOL!

June 10th -

6,548 steps

Next to last day of summer school! I have one student left to finish. I hope they can complete their course quickly so they can also enjoy their summer. I didn’t walk around much at work, but I wasn’t sitting on my tush the entire time. I covered a lot of books since I finished spending my book budget money on June 8th. After picking up the little one from his dad and coming back home, I decided that I needed to get a walk in, so I went out for about 20 minutes and took a nice stroll.

June 11th -

4,954 steps

Yes! It’s the last day of summer school! Again, I was covering books, so while my steps don’t look good (at all), I was not sitting on my tush. I was standing, which I think is better. I didn’t go for a walk, because I just wanted to relax from summer school and spend some down time with my kids.

June 12 -

6,586 steps

I took a couple of little walks today, but it wasn’t enough to overcome my laziness. I’ll work on building up my steps because a friend and I will be participating in a 5k next weekend and I want to make sure I don’t die on the path. LOL!

June 13 -

8,075 steps

Today, I took a 30 minute walk. It really helped set me up for a good day. I really kept an eye on my eating habits/choices. For breakfast I could have grabbed one of the chocolate glazed donuts on the counter, but I opted to make the better choice of some scrambled eggs and wheat toast. Lunch was some tuna and egg salad sandwiches on pita bread with lettuce, and dinner was leftover spaghetti. I didn’t snack, but I also wasn’t hungry throughout the day. Let’s see how I do tomorrow.

I also took some photos so I can compare them to the end of this month and again next month as July will be focused on my eating habits.

June 14 -

9,256 steps

Man, I was so close. Today I didn’t go for a walk. I also ate terribly. I caved and had a donut. Then lunch was Chinese food (but I only had one plate of food and 3 very small scoops of ice cream). Dinner was a burger, tots, and lemon slush from Sonic. So, while the steps look pretty good, the food choices were terrible. The little one has been so good since I’ve been off work that I decided to surprise him by going to a park after dinner so he could play for a while.  As we came to a fork in the road (where there is a park in either direction) I asked him to pick left or right. He picked right and I pulled into the first park.  He asked me what would have happened if he picked left and I told him we would have gone to the bigger park in town. He replied with (one of my favorite phrases) “Gosh dang it.” But once we got to the park, he asked me to do the see-saw with him, then we played around on the jungle gym. After that we walked around the paved loop in the park (which is about ¼ of a mile). He does a great job of helping motivate me to do a little bit of good for myself in terms of my health. I think it helps him too.
