Week 30 - Not exactly the best week on the books

 July 20 -

Grilled burger with bun, ketchup, and pickle relish

Doritos

Lemon bar with almond flour crust

Brownie

Mixed nuts

Raisins

Today I attended a barbecue hosted by the local GSA alliance for the county in which I live. My youngest son and my sister attended with me. We all have friends that are a part of the group and love hanging out with them. I usually attend the monthly meetings, because the members have been some of the most welcoming and kind people I’ve met since making the decision to be a little more involved in the community. After attending the barbecue we went to our respective homes and I took a trip to the gym. I’m really proud of my dedication to visiting the gym on a much more consistent basis. I hope to continue it past the 75 day challenge.

I was within all ranges for my food intake today. Yay!!!

July 21 -

Brownie

Salad (lettuce mix with carrots and cabbage, green peppers, bacon pieces, red peppers, cucumbers, croutons, grape tomatoes)

Cottage cheese

Peppers with peppers and red onions

Mashed potatoes

Roasted zucchini

Hot fudge sundae

I realized today that I’ve gone to the gym 4 days already. I’m only supposed to go 5 days in a 7 day week with two active rest days, so today is an active rest day. The little one has some make-up swim lessons today. He has really enjoyed them this year. His class size is very small so there’s a lot of individual attention on what he needs to work on to make him a better swimmer. I befriended a mom of one of his classmates, so we’re supposed to meet at the pool tomorrow evening when they offer free swimming. Guess that will make the active rest a little easier.

I was within range on everything except sugar. I went over just a touch on it.

July 22 -

Brownie

Salad (lettuce mix with carrots and cabbage, green peppers, bacon pieces, red peppers, cucumbers, sunflower seeds, grape tomatoes)

Cottage cheese

Toast with margarine and cinnamon sugar

Crab Rangoon (5 pieces)

Egg rolls (3)

We made it to the pool tonight! I haven’t been in the pool all year. With the lifeguards being former and current students I get a little weirded out about swimming. Students can be cruel and I don’t want to give them more reason to say unkind things about me.

I was over on calories by a little bit and I blew my sodium through the roof. But man those egg rolls and crab rangoon were delicious.

July 23 -

Piece of Totino’s cheese pizza

Sonic burger and medium tots

Medium Sonic lemon slush (I only drank about half of it)

Banana

I took the little one school supply shopping (and grocery shopping) today. Today was an active rest day. I was going to go on a walk, but other things came up so I decided to do some bedtime yoga. It was very nice and relaxing.

I was a little over on sugar and sodium, but the sugar might not be as bad considering I didn’t drink the entire slush, even though I had it listed in MyFitnessPal.

July 24 -

2 Bananas

Movie theater popcorn (part of a medium bucket)

Cookie

Toast with margarine and strawberry preserves

Cottage cheese

Sunflower seeds

Raisins

I took the little one to a movie today. We were supposed to see The Bad Guys for the free family movie, but the theater did not receive it from the vendor, so we got to see Despicable Me 4 for free. He was a VERY happy boy because he wanted to see it very badly. After that we ran a few additional errands then came home. I made it to the gym and after I got home from the gym we watched a movie together as a family. Overall, it was a good night.

I was actually pretty good on my ranges today, but I did go over on my sugar by a little bit.

July 25 -

Banana

Salad (lettuce mix with carrots and cabbage, green peppers, bacon pieces, red peppers, cucumbers, sunflower seeds, grape tomatoes)

Cottage cheese

Carrots

4 slices of a large super supreme pizza on thin crust

My workout at the gym yielded some amazing results! My speed on the treadmill has improved and I’m doing some hill workouts. It was a bit rough on my knee, but I iced it when I got home and it’s feeling better. I had big plans on eating a great homemade meal tonight, however, the hours got away from me and the frozen portions were not thawed so I ordered pizza. While it was NOT the healthiest option I could have gone with, I knew it would be filling. I should have stopped at 3 pieces, but my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I later suffered because of it. Lesson learned. Stop a little earlier than you think you need to. In addition to the faster speed on the treadmill (and bigger inclines), I also upped the weights on a few machines this week. I’m thinking of upping my reps on a few of them while at the current weight so I can fatigue my muscles in a different way. I don’t want too much of a routine to develop and my muscles to feel like they can slack off. LOL! I love the feeling of getting stronger. I’m sure there are people who scoff at the amount of weights that I use, but I’m not trying to be super buff or anything. I just want to be in better shape. And maybe show others that you can achieve a better fitness level at any age. Today makes day 30 that I’ve consistently worked out, drank my water, eaten better, and read a minimum of 10 minutes each day. That is something to celebrate!

I was within range on almost everything except fat and sodium. With the current heartburn I’m having, that’s not surprising.

July 26 -

Cottage cheese

Sunflowers (½ serving)

Raisins (½ serving)

2 slices thin crust Super Supreme pizza

Breaded tenderloin sandwich (mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles)

15 tater tots

I am so frustrated with myself. I’ve gone over on sodium multiple days in a row, along with fat. I know I can do better. I have not been eating the best this week and I’m sure it will show up on my weigh in and measurements. I can’t out exercise a bad diet, but damn sometimes I just want some comfort food. I need to make other foods comfort foods. I also need to work harder at making meals at home and eating leftovers. I think it’ll be easier to take the leftovers to work when I go back. Right now I just want food that is quick to make and eat because I just want to relax until I go back to work. But then I manage to not have enough time or energy to make meals for which I’ve purchased the ingredients.  I have no one to blame but myself. This last week will be a push to do better so I can carry good habits into August and returning to work.

I do not have any photos to update this week, because I’m away from home today so I cannot weigh myself or take photos with the same lighting.  I will take them on Sunday, though I doubt they’ll show much difference.
