Week 43: I really need to finish that cake

Image
Sunday, October 20  I didn’t do jack shit today. I made terrible food choices and sat around all day. But, I did finish a movie and watched a beloved classic too, so that’s a win. Monday, October 21  Today consisted of a nice long walk while the little one was in his acrobatics class. During the first portion of my walk, I came across a family where the mom took photos of the kids and her husband. Initially I walked by them, but then realized how fleeting it is to have photos of your whole family that aren’t selfies. So I turned around and walked faster to catch up with them to offer (from one mom to another) to take some family group shots. She agreed and I took a few of them together. I continued for a bit longer after that and turned around to return to the building where the acrobatics class was taking place. During the walk back to his class, I came across one of the local librarians and she was staring off into the distance. I asked her if she was okay and she sai...

Week 42: Celebrating year 44

Sunday, October 13  Today I went out to lunch with a friend, then hit the gym for a good workout. Oh yeah, I also got the kids to clean their stuff off the living room floor so I could vacuum. So, I vacuumed the living room and my bedroom today. Those tasks have been on my “to do” list for a bit, but for some reason I’ve just been pretty lethargic. I’m hoping this week things will help me snap back to being productive. I watched a video sometime last week where a trainer talked about how a decent amount of clients that really pushed themselves at the gym had messy living situations because the human body is really good at conserving energy, especially if your body is used to not doing much. So, I’m going to work on that mental block and get some stuff done around the house, because ya girl has been slacking!  Monday, October 14  Today was a teacher work day, so I had a decent amount of time by myself, though I did visit with some coworkers and also offered to help ...

Week 41: Getting back in the groove

Sunday, October 6th  Well, I had big plans of going to the gym today, but instead I visited with friends. I won, either way you slice it. If I had gone to the gym, I would have worked on making my body stronger, but I decided to make a friendship stronger instead. I love winning.   After visiting, my sister and I went to a local city that has some shops we needed/wanted to visit. I spent too much money, but it’s okay. I’ll survive. My children will survive. The world will go on. I’d venture to say that the time I spent in the Halloween aisle at one store was some “me” time, along with wandering around a bookstore and getting some more books.  I didn’t wear my watch to track my steps. Sometimes I just need to step away from trying to meet all the goals in life every single day. Monday, October 7th  Today I dropped the little one off at his acrobatics class and walked for two miles. It was a great walk with a beautiful view of the sunset. I also had some gr...

Week 40: Back after a break

Tuesday, October 1:  New month, new opportunity to do what I’m supposed to do with this blog. I completely failed at doing the tasks for August or September. I didn’t write much of anything in August. Heck, I didn’t even write my blog. And September was a giant bust with deep cleaning the house. To be fair, it’s pretty difficult to deep clean a house when a certain 8 year old leaves chaos in his wake all of the time. I’ve been trying to get him to notice and clean up his messes in a more effective manner, but I feel like I’m butting my head against a wall the majority of the time. I can’t get him to get rid of stuff, but he also stinks at cleaning up the stuff he has. I don’t want to do to him what my mother did to me where she snuck into my room when I wasn’t home and just threw out things. It was extremely unpleasant coming home to things I liked no longer where I left them. I wouldn’t say it was traumatic, but it did bother me a lot. Anyway, for October I am supposed to take tim...
