Week 40: Back after a break
New month, new opportunity to do what I’m supposed to do with this blog. I completely failed at doing the tasks for August or September. I didn’t write much of anything in August. Heck, I didn’t even write my blog. And September was a giant bust with deep cleaning the house. To be fair, it’s pretty difficult to deep clean a house when a certain 8 year old leaves chaos in his wake all of the time. I’ve been trying to get him to notice and clean up his messes in a more effective manner, but I feel like I’m butting my head against a wall the majority of the time. I can’t get him to get rid of stuff, but he also stinks at cleaning up the stuff he has. I don’t want to do to him what my mother did to me where she snuck into my room when I wasn’t home and just threw out things. It was extremely unpleasant coming home to things I liked no longer where I left them. I wouldn’t say it was traumatic, but it did bother me a lot. Anyway, for October I am supposed to take time out for myself. Some days it will be more difficult than others, since Robert has a birthday party and a few other things are going on this month. But, I hope to be more successful than in previous months.
Today, I will go to bed early because I’m exhausted.
Wednesday, October 2:
Success! I fell asleep around 9 pm (which is early for me considering I usually go to bed around 11 pm). I even managed to sleep through the night all the way to my alarm!
I am again taking time for myself today by going to bed early. Apparently, I’m just tired now. Tired all the time. I will try to read before bed..
Thursday, October 3:
Reading didn’t happen last night. I got sucked into the world of Instagram Reels and Facebook. Tonight I’m typing in the blog and hope to get to bed pretty soon. We shall see.
Thus far I guess I’ve done better in October than I did all of September. I’ve been super busy with work, running the little one around, and trying to eat better, which means cooking a lot more at home. Today, I took time for myself by going to the gym. I haven’t gone in the past few days for a variety of reasons, but today I went and I do not regret it. I missed my time at the gym and I’m extremely glad I went. I even ran into a couple of former students, both of which made it a point to say hey. That does a heart good.
Friday, October 4:
Going to bed was great, until I woke up at 1:30 am because I needed to pee REALLY bad. LOL! Thankfully, I was able to go back to sleep rather quickly. I was able to read some this morning, so between that and the visit to the gym today, I was able to have some time for me. Today was a busy day, for sure. We had a half day of school due to homecoming being tonight at the football game. In a midwestern small town, that means there will be a parade. The grand marshal of the parade was a beloved teacher that retired at the end of the year, and I volunteered to drive him in the parade. So, after school got out, we went to the local car dealership to pick up the vehicle and head to the line up position in the parade. It only took us about 15 minutes to get through the parade, then I dropped off the grand marshal then took the vehicle back to the dealership. I returned home to wait for the boys to come back from the parade. After that it was time to hit the gym, then after getting home, we went to the football game so I could set up for the fundraiser that Key Club runs, face painting! We had a stellar night. Now, I’m home and ready for bed. I am meeting a friend at the gym tomorrow for a workout before the little one has a soccer game.
Saturday, October 5:
The workout this morning was great! I lacked confidence to go to the free weights area, but now that I know some moves for my back and arms, I will be able to walk into that area with some confidence and get a better workout. That makes me feel great! I did some time on the stair machine, which caused me to break out in a little bit of a sweat. I might have to incorporate that into my routine a little more frequently.
I managed to take photos, measurements and weigh myself this morning. Things aren’t great, but they’re also not bad. In addition to that, I had an InBody scan on Friday afternoon, which had some highs and some lows in it, too. Starting with information from the InBody scan: the weight recorded is higher than what my scale says at home, so that was disheartening. On a positive note, I know I’ve lost weight so regardless of the amount on the scan, I know it’s lower than it would have been in June or July. My PBF (Percent Body Fat) is considered high at 39.4%. However, the rest of the report made me pretty happy. My SMM (Skeletal Muscle Mass) is within the ideal range! My Segmental Lean Analysis, which looks at how your muscle mass is distributed throughout your body and compares the muscle to the ideal distribution, is fantastic! Each area of the Segmental Lean Analysis should be over 100% for the 5 areas checked (right arm, left arm, right leg, left leg, and trunk), all 5 areas in my body are over 100%! My right arm is the highest with 105.9% and my trunk is the lowest at 100.2%, but this is wonderful news. It literally means I need to work on losing the fat, because the muscle is where it needs to be. As I get stronger and work off the fat, I won’t be lopsided. LOL!!!!
As for my measurements and weight for today, I have highs and lows again. My weight has creeped up over the 170 mark by a little bit. The last few weeks weren’t fantastic with eating and my period will be starting soon. I am working on the eating to get it back under wraps. I can’t really control the period aspect since I’m a woman and all. The good news is that EVERY area I measure (waist, hips, right thigh, and right arm) dropped by at least ¼ of an inch. So, things are moving in the correct direction and I blame my menstrual cycle.
And finally, here are the photos for the week. These are week 1 (June), Week 11 ( early September) and Week 15 (today).
