Week 41: Getting back in the groove

 Sunday, October 6th

Well, I had big plans of going to the gym today, but instead I visited with friends. I won, either way you slice it. If I had gone to the gym, I would have worked on making my body stronger, but I decided to make a friendship stronger instead. I love winning.

After visiting, my sister and I went to a local city that has some shops we needed/wanted to visit. I spent too much money, but it’s okay. I’ll survive. My children will survive. The world will go on. I’d venture to say that the time I spent in the Halloween aisle at one store was some “me” time, along with wandering around a bookstore and getting some more books.

I didn’t wear my watch to track my steps. Sometimes I just need to step away from trying to meet all the goals in life every single day.

Monday, October 7th

Today I dropped the little one off at his acrobatics class and walked for two miles. It was a great walk with a beautiful view of the sunset. I also had some great tunes going through my earbuds. Before we left, I spent some time reading a library book. I really need to work on reading some books in my house so I can free up some shelf space.

Tuesday, October 8th

Today I didn’t really have time to do anything for myself. I had to work all day, then go home for like an hour, and turn around and go back to work for a few hours. Better luck tomorrow.

Wednesday, October 9th

I had big plans today on spending some quality time at the gym. Well, my bestie called so I skipped out on some of my weight training and chatted with her for like an hour or two instead. So, really, who won here?!? I’d venture to say talking to her and being at the gym counts as taking some time for me.

Thursday, October 10th

Today, after finding out that Rafael Nadal (my favorite tennis player) is retiring in November, I needed a mental health day. It was not unexpected, but it still hurt. So, I picked up the book I started last night and took it with me to work today. I didn’t do much at work today except read. I finished a 350+ page book in a day. Just imagine if I used my skills for evil! LOL!

Friday, October 11th

Oh my gosh! I had the best time Friday evening! The local GSA-type alliance held a game night at a local place that sells adult beverages. The meeting was 21+ so adults could unwind a little while hanging out. It was so much fun! It appears that my passion about things earned me the (almost) unanimous title of “Most likely to need anger management”, so that was fun. LOL! Seriously though, it was a fun night. While I was around people, I think having nights like that are super helpful in terms of remembering things that bring me joy and allowing me to be away from the house for a while.

Saturday, October 12th

This day was NOT about me. The little one had his birthday celebration with friends, which he thoroughly enjoyed. They swam for an hour then played, had cake, and watched him open gifts for an hour. All the kids seemed to have a good time. I’m very thankful for all of the friends he has and that they all appear to be good kids, which is a testament to the parents and each of the kids for finding one another in this crazy world. That makes my heart happy. After the party, we all kinda vegged out at home. I did manage to squeeze in a workout before entering my vegetative state. I’ve got some inches to lose *hopefully* before the end of the year.

The cats trapped me in bed while I was reading on Monday evening.
