Week 45: Too many emotions and Lego!

 November 2:

I am away from home this weekend, so I’m not going to be sorting any Lego. However, I am having a wonderful time with some wonderful friends! Today we went for a hike at a state park near the AirBnB that we rented for the weekend. Here are some shots from our hike. It is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!

November 3:

The last day of vacation. So saddened, but also ready to see my kids. I’ve had an absolutely refreshing time. My soul is full of appreciation for my friends and the fact that we took time to be together and celebrate one another. Perhaps when I get home I’ll start sorting some Lego (per my challenge for November) while the little one works on his homework.

November 4:

Today was a little busy since I went back to work after a little break. After work I had to do a grocery pick up, which was nice because the boys actually offered up suggestions on meals for the week! Woo hoo!!!!

I sorted some Lego on the 3rd and will be sorting some again tonight. The little one may help me sort if he doesn’t have too much homework. In addition to that help, he also puts the Lego into the appropriate containers downstairs.

November 5:

Election day. It’s gonna be a busy day as I have to work, meet the little one at the library after school so he can return books, then vote, then pick up the big one at work. After all that running around we have to stop by home so I can change and the cats can be fed. Then it’s off to my sister’s job to pick her up to go to a nearby town so she can get a replacement phone as hers is broken. Then if all goes according to plan we’re supposed to meet the kids dad in a different town to get something that the little one left at his dad’s this past weekend. Hopefully we can get it all done before the little one needs to go to bed. Oh crap, I just remembered he needs a shower too. And we all need to eat. Oy vey!

November 6:

I’m not going to speak on politics in my blog. That’s not the point. Here is all that I’m going to say about the entire matter: I stand with my friends who are scared.

I took the day off work today, which was probably the best thing since I figured today would not be joyful for a lot of people. Hopefully the little one and I can sort some Lego tonight, after I get these acrylic nails off. Talk about a time consuming process. But it’ll be worth it for my natural nails to keep some of their growth from the acrylics. Now that I am familiar with the length that I like and I know I can remove them myself, I might get them more than once every 5 years. LOL!

November 7:

Today I returned to work. Tears were shed at various points while having discussions with students, but it wasn’t as bad today as it would have been yesterday. A coworker also asked me to help them out with something over lunch, which was partially a cover to talk about how they were doing after the election results. I am so thankful that I am able to convey my care for others in a way that makes them feel comfortable.

After work, I hung out at home for a bit then went to the YMCA for a dance class. When I got home from that I needed to finish dishes and my sister came to the house to borrow my phone to activate hers. Sadly, she was misled about how the process would work so now we have to make yet another trip to the nearby town we visited on Tuesday.

I didn’t get to sort any Lego tonight since I still have dishes to do and I’m pooped.

November 8:

After work, I ran around picking up my children and sister. After dropping the kids off at home, my sister and I traveled to the nearby town to get her phone activated. It didn’t take as long as we thought it would. She made a simple mistake by putting the new SIM card in her new phone instead of the old SIM card. Simple fix and she was good to go! After that we stopped at Walmart so she could get some stuff that our crappy Walmart doesn’t have. She obtained her needed items then we got some dinner. After dinner we stopped at HyVee as they were having a sale on some baking supplies, so this baker got some much needed supplies for the influx of pies that will need to be made for Thanksgiving. No need to go hunting for pumpkin in a can, as I have enough now. LOL! After HyVee, we headed home. By the time I walked in my house I was pooped. It’s been a long and emotional week. Aside from the election, I’m dealing with a situation with a teacher that my youngest son has and I’m extremely upset about it. I finally decided to reach out to the principal of the school to ask for help in addressing the issue that I’m having because in the amount of time I’ve had a child in school I’ve never experienced anything like this and I need some tools to help me. I’ve managed to gather some documentation about the experiences that both my son and I have been through with this particular teacher so that when the meeting happens I *hopefully* won’t forget anything. Then add to that the fact that I overspent during my girls weekend and I’m pinching pennies right now to make sure we can be okay until I get paid next Friday, it’s a lot. It’ll be okay and we’ll make it through. I’m extremely thankful that we have no plans this weekend so I can focus on cleaning the house (and maybe doing some winterizing) so I can relax in the coming weeks. My oldest son did point out this week that it’s almost puzzle time, since I tend to pull out puzzles when it gets colder. Smart kid. He knows his mom well.

November 9:

I decided to start another round of 75 Soft after success in the first round, but then some major failures in round 2. I’m working myself back to logging my meals, drinking more water, and getting back to the gym. It’s not easy, as life happens a lot, but I will persevere. This morning I took my week 1 progress photos along with weight and measurements. I’m so thankful that I haven’t put on much weight since my failure to complete the second round. I hope that the measurements aren’t too bad when I input them into myfitnesspal. Mental and physical health go hand-in-hand and right now I feel like I’m struggling a bit with both. Hopefully this will help me get back on track.

As the day is young, I am hopeful that I can spend at least an hour today sorting Lego. I have an audiobook that is due back to the library in 7 days and I still have like 5 hours left in it. Listening to it while sorting Lego is extremely helpful as it is one of the Gateway titles that a few students have read and one of them wants to talk about it. Until next week, readers!

The last rose for the season.
