Week 46: Cake and Pies - Oh my!

 November 10:

I spent some time sorting Lego tonight, but other than that I’ve been extremely lazy today. I think I’m still recuperating from all the running around previously.

November 11:

I have GOT to do better at going to the gym. I keep giving excuse after excuse to not go. I think part of it is because my little one is now old enough to be Youth Certified, but I just don’t want to share my gym time. I worked so hard at eating better and working out to let it all fall apart. I’m not pleased with myself and with the colder months and the outlook of seasonal depression around the corner, I need to get back in the habit so I can keep the sadness at bay.

I did get some Lego sorted and the little one put away the pieces in their colored drawers. At this rate, I don’t think I’ll get any sets built, but I will get the tables cleaned off some so there is room to play and build. Perhaps that will be my little win for the month.

November 12:

Today is a pie making day. The little one, my sister, and I will be attending a local Alliance meeting tomorrow that is centered around Thanksgiving and sharing a meal with others. I offered to bring some pies, since I’m kind of a pie maker and all. LOL! The little one and I are making a cherry pie and a pumpkin pie. He doesn’t like the smell of the pumpkin puree, but once the sugar and spices are added he’s better with it. Since I know he doesn’t like the smell he gets to crack and add the eggs. That kid loves cracking eggs. When I start making the pies in bulk for Thanksgiving, he will be a big help, I think.

Due to the nature of pie making, I did not work on the Lego situation.

November 13:

Tonight my little one became Youth Certified to work out at the YMCA. I have mixed emotions about it. Part of me is extremely proud that he wants to exercise (maybe because he knows mom does it and she’s happier when she does), but the other part of me is sad because that was my “alone” time where he wasn’t my constant shadow. As it stands right now, he’s allowed to go with me one day a week and depending on how much he shadows me, he may be able to add more days. He was extremely upset when I told him that tonight counted as his night for the week.

After our time at the gym, we packed up the pies I made yesterday and left to pick up my sister to go to the Alliance Thanksgiving meal. We had a wonderful time hanging out with friends, chatting, and eating food. I am pleased to share that both of my pies were the first to be eaten, which made me feel really good! I am so glad I brought the cherry pie, because it was the first one that was finished! Holy guacamole! Oh yeah, and I am one of the volunteers to help wrap gifts to raise funds for the Alliance. There will be a gift wrapping station near the downtown area. I don’t usually help with fundraisers because I don’t necessarily feel like I’m representative of a lot of the members, but after a lot of reflection, I realized that being an Ally can be just as important as being a member of the community so I will be doing more things to help the Alliance thrive and give those who are in the LBGTQ+ community a group they can be comfortable with. And honestly, the members of the Alliance are some of the nicest people I’ve met in my time here.

No progress on the Lego situation tonight as we were busy all evening. But, I have been asked to do a demonstration on how to make a pie at work with the Foods class! I’m so excited!!!!

November 14:

No Lego sorting today, as I felt like I was chasing my own tail for the bulk of the day. I went to the gym for Dance 2 Fit this evening, even though I wasn’t feeling the whole ‘leave the house’ thing. I had a good time and was reminded for the 100th time that this white girl has no rhythm. LOL!

November 15:

Tonight I wrapped up some items for one of my daily posts in November. It was quite enjoyable as my youngest helped me with the wrapping and numbering. Made it to the gym for the 3rd day in a row! Woo hoo!!! I need to get the eating back under control so I logged all of my meals today. Thus far I am over on fat, but it seems like everything is good. Thank goodness! I hope to do as well tomorrow. I’m meeting a friend for lunch and depending on what we decide to do after that I may meet another friend for a bit before heading home. Later tomorrow we are all going over to visit a family full of friends. It will be a busy day, but filled with so much enjoyment.

As for the Lego project, I may sort some later tonight, but I’m not totally sure. I still need to read my book. I’m about halfway through it and I NEED to finish it.

November 16:

Today was enjoyable! The little one and I made a cake (from scratch) for a friend of his that we are visiting later today. After the cake making, I traveled to a nearby town to have lunch with one friend and hang out with another after lunch. I made it home with plenty of time to make the icing for the cake (from scratch also) and get it iced. The cake stuck to the pans more than I wanted it to, but it tastes pretty good, as does the icing. After a while we will head over to hang out with our friends while having dinner and playing games. We always have such a good time together!
