Week 49: When the heck did I get allergies?
A great way to begin the blog for a new month. I am writing it a week later and I have ZERO idea of what I did, because of all the other stuff that went on this week. I believe I went to the gym and I’m fairly certain I spent time with my little one. Beyond that, I’m completely lost. * face palm *
December 2:
The little one has choir practice tonight instead of his acrobatics class. The 3rd grade students were invited to sing with the Community Christmas Choir this year. It’s a first and I’m very excited for the kids. I think it’s a great way to get younger people interested in the choir and maybe next year some of those parents will join, making it even bigger! All parents were required to stay during the portion of the practice with the kids (which was like 30 minutes) then we could take our kids home. It was a good practice and I hope the actual performance goes well.
After the practice, I sat in my car and chatted with a friend who has a child the same age as my little one. The kids are good friends and I am so very thankful that we could sit in the car and chit chat for a while. Making friends can be difficult, but the saying about your kids helping you make friends is true and I am thankful for this friendship.
December 3:
Tonight is the Community Christmas Choir performance. My sister looks forward to it every year. Honestly, if she could get a group of people together to go caroling, she’d be the happiest person alive. She just adores Christmas. The 3rd grade students did a wonderful job during their portion of the performance. Sadly, I developed a pretty nasty headache near the end of the show, so I sat in the car for the last two songs. However, the boys stuck around and enjoyed the end of the concert.
December 4:
Headache part 2 - Today the headache that started yesterday continued. Usually some aspirin and sleep make the pain stop, but that wasn’t the case. I found throughout the day that the more I could focus on work, the less my head bothered me, which is weird. It’s usually quite the opposite. When I had down time, I really struggled to focus on anything because my head hurt so much. It was really awful. Heck, it was bad enough that I had to wait to write this post because when I got home from doing various activities today, I just wanted to be in a dark room.
After work I picked up the kids and we joined a group of Key Club students to pack up care baskets for local community members. It astonishes me how quickly the Key Club students pack stuff up! Each year, I feel like they pack them faster than the year before. After helping out with that, I dropped the boys off at home and took my sister to the store. She came with me to the house and while I was doing something she asked me a question about a movie that we had borrowed from her. My headache had been going on more than 24 hours at that point and I lost it on her. After my meltdown, I went to my room and just stayed in the dark. I completely forgot that the little one had homework that he needed to use my phone to complete (notes that his teacher sent through the ClassDojo app). Overall it was a productive, but very rough day.
December 5:
The headache is gone! Now my eyes feel like golf balls, I’m sneezing constantly, and my nose is running. Do I have allergies suddenly?!?!?! What the heck?! Today was not as productive as previous days, due to my constant sneezing and nose blowing.
When I woke up this morning, I had a note in front of my tea making station, where my oldest son called me out for my bad behavior the evening before because I really hurt my sister’s feelings when I lost it and he didn’t want her to feel like a bad sister. I left him a note (as he is asleep when I leave for work) and told him that I had already apologized to her the evening prior, but that I appreciate how much he loves and cares for his aunt. I sent her a photo of his note along with apologizing once again and asking if she needed to go to the store. She did need to go, so I picked her up and took her to the store. She still needs some stuff, but I can’t be there when she gets them, so I’m going to ask my oldest to take her to the store.
December 6:
TGIF! I haven’t done a super great job of talking about spending time (or actually spending time) with loved ones this week, having the health situation earlier this week didn’t help. I did really want to start off strong, but mother nature had other plans. Hopefully I can end on a positive note this week and do well next week.
December 7:
Today I spent some time with fellow members of the local Alliance and wrapped Christmas gifts to help raise money for activities and such. I had a good time and really enjoyed the conversations that took place. After wrapping gifts, I headed to watch the yearly Christmas parade, where I met up with my kids. The big one went home since he’s not a big fan of celebrating Christmas, but the little one and I hung out for the parade and activities after. We both had a good time and I enjoyed the time we spent together.
