Week 50: Good times with those I love
Tonight was a good night. My sister came over and as a family we (her, my boys, and me) sat down and watched Kubo and the Two Strings together. As my oldest son and I saw some of the characters and sets when we visited Seattle, we shared things we learned about the movie with everyone else. After we finished it, I started dinner and my sister put on a Christmas movie that her and the little one like to watch. After the movie was over, I took her home then came back to sort through some Christmas gifts that I purchased earlier today. I’m pretty pleased with a lot of them and I hope the rest are enjoyed. It was nice to spend time together with 3 people I love very much.
December 9:
The little one didn’t feel good today, so I called in to work and stayed home with him. Thankfully, all he needed was a nap and he felt better. After he woke up from his nap, we snuggled in my room for a while. He then decided to watch one of his favorite Christmas movies in his room on his tablet. Honestly, the bulk of the day was lazy. I sat on the loveseat and listened to an audiobook while the boys both hung out in the living room for most of the day. I call it a win for spending time with people that I love.
December 10:
Another dull night at home with two of my favorite people. We live a pretty quiet life.
December 11:
A surprise activity presented itself for the little one today, so he got to walk to the local library after school so he could participate. I showed up at the predetermined end time and he was still working hard, so I pulled up a chair and helped him. It was nice to see the progress of his creation while we worked together. I think it meant a lot to him too, since he’s at that age where he wants to be independent, but also likes getting help from the adults in his life. I know (from experience) that one day he will focus more on the independent part, so I’m going to do what I can to help him now so he can be more confident when he decides to be Mr. Independent.
December 12:
I really wanted to go to the gym, in my head. My body had other ideas. I am exhausted. I would love nothing more than to sit around and do absolutely nothing for the rest of the day. I am also craving Mexican food, so maybe tonight the boys and I will grab some Mexican food.
December 13:
Friday the 13th, plus a full moon. Sounds like a great time! Tonight was a pretty chill night at home with the boys. They played a video game together and I listened to an audiobook.
December 14:
The little one took his first train ride today! He also discovered that he is not a fan of small children, especially when there is a delay for the arrival of a train. Oh yeah, and he’s not a fan of misting rain. But the train ride was the highlight of his day!
After our “adventure” of train riding and the travel involved in riding said train, we got home and I relaxed a bit before heading to a nearby town to hang out with some of my girlfriends for holiday festivities. We took a horse drawn carriage ride, used every opportunity to take photos of ourselves with some decorations, ate a filling dinner, had dessert, then parted ways. It was a wonderful time of fellowship with friends. I am so thankful that we’ve been together through so many of life’s events.
